With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Adams (Ames, Iowa), born in Humboldt, Iowa, who passed away on May 8, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Adams and Bernice Adams (Sayers); and his sister Marilyn Mechem. He is survived by: his wife Jerelyn; his daughters, Kimberly Smith (Wade Sundeen) and Kristin Groepper (Dan); his grandchildren, Hanna, Claire, Jack, Ben Groepper, Dylan and Alec Smith; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte Groepper and Kennedy Rasmussen.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, John's family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church, one of any food service organizations around Ames, or sent to the family for a memorial tree planting they are planning in John's memory.
