Marlys touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Young and Mildred Young; her sister Marilyn Hein (Jim Potter); and her nephew Doug Hein. She is survived by: her niece Judi Gaylord; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Graham Gaylord (Kim), Guthrie Gaylord and Edie Hein DePhillips (Randy); her stepchildren, Susan Vandekamp, Jane Heintz and Michael Potter (Carla); her stepgrandchildren, Shane Heintz (Christine), Cory Heintz and Falon Potter; Alec DePhillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa, the Keep Okoboji Blue Fund (managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines), and the Octagon Center for the Arts.
