He is survived by: his wife Donna Schulze; his daughters, Katie (Matt McNeill) of Coralville and Amanda Baetsle (Lance) of Ames; his grandchildren, Matilda, Margot, Charlie and Max; his former wife Donna Lutz; his siblings, Craig, Scott and Laurie; and his uncle Marlin Lutz.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association which was an important cause to him after caring for his father.
