It is with sadness that the passing of Richard DeMoss of Ames, Iowa is shared. Richard, born in Rippey, Iowa, passed away on October 5, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Sylvester and Alta Mae DeMoss (Kelley); his sister Alpharetta Peterson; his brother-in-law Earl Peterson; his mother-in-law Lucy Geisler; his stepson Jeff Osmundson; his stepgranddaughter Jennifer Dooley; his nephew Kevin Peterson; and his close friend Dayl Inglett.
He is survived by: his wife Letha; his brother George DeMoss (JoAnn) of Ankeny; his children, Doug (Ronda) of Ankeny and Carmen Bohlke (Steve) of South Haven, MN; his stepchildren, Terri Bogenrief (Matt) of Ankeny and David Osmundson of Ellsworth; and his grandson Dick. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ames United Methodist Church (516 Kellogg Ave, Ames, IA 50010). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Ames Municipal Cemetery (310 E 9th St, Ames, IA 50010).
The family requests memorial contributions either be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Gilbert FFA.
