She was predeceased by: her parents, James Dickson "Dick" and Dorothy Lucille Tomlinson (Hulderson); and her close friend Larry Valasek. She is survived by: her siblings, Karin Tomlinson (Roman Katuszonek) and Steve Tomlinson; her siblings' children, Dr. Ryan Tomlinson (Paul Mason), Sean Fleming, Jacqueline Fleming (Mark Colley) and John Tomlinson (Jaelynn); her great-nephew Peter Fleming; her great-niece Nora Tomlinson; her friends, Sarah Bell and Connie Kappos; Cooper and Ruby.

Memorial contributions in Shirley's memory can be made to Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Israel Family Hospice House or Wesley Life Hospice.
