He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bickel and Martha Bickel (LeClere); his wife Judy Zumbrunnen; his grandson Brandon Bickel; his son-in-law Bill Eaton; his siblings, Marie Westphal, Janet Bickel, Larry Bickel and Jane; his brother-in-law Russell Stiffler; and his sister Sharon Zumbrunnen.
He is survived by: his children, Stan Bickel, Randy Bickel (Deb), Laura Eaton (Greg Frank) of Pearl City, IL and Michael Bickel; his grandchildren, Nick Payne, Samantha McAtee (Austin), Hilary Bickel (Jake Wilson), Brooke Bickel (Levi Kozlowski), Aaron Eaton (Lexi), Miranda Tumilty (Nate), Delanee Bickel and Charlee Bickel; his siblings, Henry Bickel (Annitea), Leonard Bickel, Donna Bickel and Barbara Stevens (Dennis); and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Westphal, Steve Zumbrunnen, JoAnn Malley, Joyce Hill, Susan Miller (Marty) and Shirley Zumbrunnen. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Goettsch Funeral Home (306 E 1st St, Anamosa, IA 52205). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location.
