He was predeceased by : his mother Dorothy; and his daughter Sandra. He is survived by : his wife Geri (Politano); and his daughters, Teresa Herfkens of Des Moines, Janice Thomas (Mark) of Des Moines, Judith Svendsen (Steven) of Clive and Tammy Mashaqi (Faysal) of Burlington Township. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
