He was predeceased by: his father Dale Doughan of Algona; his grandparents, Ray, Marie Doughan, Frank and Lillian Wellik, Sr. of Britt; and his brother-in-law Bill Stepanek of Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by: his mother Marcella Doughan (Wellik) of Ankeny; and his siblings, Larry (Connie Doughan), Tim (Julie Doughan), Connie (Pat Esser), Barb Stepanek of Cedar Rapids, Kathy (Keith Vitzthum), Ray (Becky Doughan) and Lisa Doughan (Elaine Ragan). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church (650 NE 52nd Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (2000 US-18, Algona, IA 50511). When COVID started in 2020, Dave stopped teaching to spend more time with his mother.
