He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jacob Sawatzky and Mary Sawatzky; his wife Wanda; his children, Debbie Sawatzky Albizo (Richard), Barb Nelson (Kim), Corey Sawatzky (Kim), Mike Sawatzky (Terri), Karl "Sonny" Webb (Kathy), Don Webb, Mark Sawatzky (Becky) and Jay Sawatzky; and his siblings-in-law, Johnnie Ray and Di Hamilton. He was also cherished by 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the VA Central Iowa Health Care System.
