He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Markhardt and Margaret Markhardt (King); his wife Vaye Jean; his son Kim Markhardt; and the parents of child, Alvin and Margaret Markhardt.
He is survived by: his son Kevin Markhardt (Sharon) of Peachtree City, GA; his grandchildren, Nicklaus of Simpsonville, SC and Melissa (Kristian Rowden) of Atlanta, GA; and his siblings, Larry Markhardt of Rockford, IL and Kathy Walz of Mt. Vernon, SD.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Graceland Cemetery (600 W 23rd Ave, Mitchell, SD 57301).
