He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Johnson and Anna Johnson (Schipper); his son Byron; his son-in-law James Limburg; and his siblings, Harm, Johnny, Henry, Gerald, Kathryn Harms, Johanna Kannegieter and Esther Spain.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Bohlen of Aplington; his children, Manelva Limburg of Aplington, Leon Johnson (Sheryl) of Parkersburg and Galene Harken (Randy) of Aplington; his daughter-in-law DeAnn Johnson of Aplington; his grandchildren, Adam Limburg (Alissa), Elizabeth "Betsy" Charles (Marvin), Neisha Hart (Aidan), Paige Huddleston (Bryce), Alecia Morris, Brett Morris (Laura), Mallory Morris (Matt), Matt Harken (Sarah), Alex Johnson (Anna) and Landon Johnson (Haley); his great grandchildren, Lincoln, Rosie, Kyla, Tre, Kingston, Vinny, Gavin, Lorelai, Briggs, Jhent, Trey, Ashton, Brodee, Macoy, Melaina, Shore, Thomas, Kiara, Jade, Sloan, Kai, Blakely, Titus and Macy; his granddaughter Everlee; his sisters, Angeline Reinicke of Reinbeck and Lois Glenn (Clyde) of St. Charles, Missouri; and his siblings-in-law, Harold DeBeer of Cedar Falls, Mel Bohlen of Allison, Marvin Bohlen (Elaine) of Clarksville and Fannie Meyer of Parkersburg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Bethel Reformed Church (29557 Hickory Ave, Aplington, IA 50604). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Student Connection or Care Initiatives Hospice.
