He is survived by: his children, Steve Schmitz (Bonnie), Peg Schmitz (Jo Chinburg), Tim Schmitz, Dale Schmitz (Nancy), Sandy Kamphoff, Mary Kohorst (Oran), Tom Schmitz (Ann) and Janet Krueger (Loren); his grandchildren, Jeff Schmitz (Heather Rivera), Sarah Hiler (Tom), Keri Buren (Dominic), Kacy Kamphoff (Jake Cera), Melissa Kohorst, Nick Kohorst (Allison), Cody Schmitz (Rachel), Jake Schmitz (Callie), Hayli Thorpe (Henry), Hannah Schmitz (Megan) and Jeffrey Lander; his great grandchildren, Braydon, Cameron, Nolan Schmitz, Sydney, Calvin, James, Henry Hiler, Jaxon, Corina Weir, Wyatt, McKenna Kohorst, Gabriel, John, Lucy, Henry Schmitz, Evelyn and Harrison Schmitz; his sister Jane Ahmann; and his siblings-in-law, Meg Tigges and Dan Tigges (Sandy).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Development and Betterment Association and may be left at the funeral home or the church.
