He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wenke and Mildred Wenke (Sandbothe); his daughter Amy; and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his children, Catherine Garrels (Greg) of Burlington and Martin Wenke (Tracie) of Argyle, Iowa; his siblings, Joseph Wenke (Mary Ann), Marvin Wenke (Cyndee), John Wenke (Evelyn), Ted Wenke (Michelle), Marilyn Schinstock (Ray) and Paul Wenke (Carolyn); his sister-in-law Suzanne Wenke; his grandchildren, Darian Auge, Hallie Garrels (Billie), Reagan Garrels, Cody Wenke (Jess), John Henry Wenke, Thomas Wenke and Kyler Wenke; and his great grandchildren, Mattie, Maleah, Marshall, Mallory and Everleigh. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Izaak Walton Green Bay Chapter (2696 240th St, Fort Madison, IA 52627).
