He was predeceased by: his parents, George Arthur and Loretta Mae Chappell (Keilholtz); and his son Kurt. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Chappell of Arlington; his daughters, Jackie Green (Dave) of Urbandale and Janet Beer (Mike) of Bondurant; and his brothers, Donald Chappell (Jeanie) of Manchester and Lloyd Chappell (Mary Jo) of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by Several Great Grandchildren.

Memorials will be given to St. John Lutheran Church, the Arlington Public Library and St. Croix Hospice.
