He was predeceased by : his parents, Elmo Brown and Roena Brown (Sayler); his stepfather L. Virgil Sexton; and his granddaughter Macy Carter. He is survived by : his wife Marie Brown; his children, Michelle Carter, Jim Brown (Lori) and Amy Smith (Brian); his sister Linda Sexton; and his grandchildren, Hannah Carter, Jacob Carter, Colin Brown, Grant Brown, Gabriel Smith and Zane Smith.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Christian Church (20794 IA-92, Council Bluffs, IA 51503). Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
