He was predeceased by: his parents, Lenora Irene Heckenbach (Carver) and Tom Heckenbach; his brothers, Tom Heckenbach and Mike Heckenbach; his father-in-law Robert Miller; and his friend Loren Thomas.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Bengard (Tim) and Sara Wood (Paul); his grandchildren, Gavin, Riley and Brady; his sisters, Karen "Susie" Deering (Walt) and Pam Horner (Jimmy); his close friend Kelli Garrett; his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Heckenbach and Callie Heckenbach; and his mother-in-law Sonja Miller.
In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to organizations in honor of Steve's giving spirit.
