He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Wharem; his mother Margaret; and his siblings, John, Louis, Ethel Helmers and Doris Schmidt.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Freeman (Mark), Jim Jr. Byson (Wendy), Shelly Zobrosky (Duane) and Susan Byson; his grandchildren, Mark Freeman (Hailey), Cody Freeman (Alicia), Kyle Freeman, Anna Freeman, Megan Kennedy (Patrick), Morgan Hanson (Ted) and David Moore (Danielle); his great grandchildren, Jensen, William, Alexis, Allie, Nora, Kennedy, Hudsyn and Madden; and his sister Betty Vorrie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Laufersweiler Funeral Home (307 S 12th St, Fort Dodge, IA 50501). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:20 PM at the same location.
