She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Scarbrough and Gladys Scarbrough (McCausland); her husband Art Schmidt; her son Gordon Schmidt; and her siblings, Bert Scarbrough (Glenda), Elaine Eytchison (Austin), Evelyn Patterson (Pat), Jean Meyer (Roy) and Donna Star (Dick).

She is survived by: her family Shirley; her children, Shirley, Jo "JoAnn" Johnson (Dave Little) and Phyllis Twaddle; her daughter-in-law Barb Schmidt; her grandchildren, Mindy Johnson (Marty Parks), Michael Johnson, Josh Twaddle (Danella), Jaci Twaddle, Randy Schmidt and Brandon Schmidt; her great grandchildren, Jacob Andrews and Kyler Johnson; and her sister-in-law Marjorie Schmidt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
