He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur J. DeJong and Jeanette M. DeJong (Den Herder); his son David DeJong; his parents-in-law, Rev. Raymond and Edith Denekas; and his son-in-law Steve Sargent.
He is survived by: his wife Carol DeJong; his daughters, Kim DeJong Sargent of Platteville and Michelle DeJong Sleezer (Ted Reis) of Cherokee, Iowa; his grandchildren, Alex Sargent (Brea Moon) of Platteville, Aiden Sargent of Platteville, Madelyn Sargent of Platteville, Brianna Sleezer of Papillion, Devynne Reis (Tyler Bezoni) of Cleghorn, Bronsan Reis of Cherokee, Jenna DeJong (Logan Phillippe) of Belle Plaine and Isabella Hegarty of Belle Plaine; his great grandchildren, Aspenn and Rainer Bezoni; his siblings, Carl DeJong (Beth) of Grand Rapids, Linda DeJong of Aurora, Kaye Lamb of Aurora, Dan DeJong (Rita) of Sioux City and Joel DeJong (Lorraine) of LeMars, Iowa; and his brother-in-law James Denekas (Dee) of Pickstown. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
