She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Ambrosy and Mary Ambrosy (Heiar); her husband Carl J. Ernst; her sons, Gary Ernst (Carol) and Dale Ernst; her grandson William "Bill" Vander Meulen; her great grandchild William Vander Meulen, Jr.; and her siblings, Arnold, Arthur, Ervin, Raymond, Alfred, Leo, Alvin, Wendel, Sylvia Kress, Lucille Duster and Lester.

She is survived by: her children, Elaine Vander Meulen (Bill) of Dubuque, Diane Kotz (Lenny) of Dubuque, Steve Ernst (Gale) of Peosta and Carla Ernst of Bellevue; and her daughter-in-law Carla Ernst of Dubuque. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established in Olivia's memory.
