He was predeceased by: his parents, Lambert Barkema and Genaveva Barkema (Gruis); his in-laws, Merritt and Helen Boyd; and his brother-in-law Harold Buseman.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Boyd (Elizabeth); his children, Audrea Castle (Mike) of Winchester, KY, Pamela Anderson (Larry) of Prior Lake, MN and Wade of Belmond, IA; his grandchildren, Charlie, Jordan, Emma, Evan and Heidi; his siblings, Donna Buseman and Byron Barkema (Sherry); his brothers-in-law, Jerry Boyd (Suzanne) and Gary Boyd (Donna); and his aunt Malinda Pals. He is also survived by numerous several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Belmond United Methodist Church (1031 1st St SE, Belmond, IA 50421). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Belmond United Methodist Church, Iowa Specialty Hospital, or BK Scholarship Fund.
