He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester "Shorty" Smith and Lillian Smith (McAlpine); his in-laws, John and Amy Just; his son David Smith; his granddaughter Shelby Jo Smith; his siblings, John Smith and Jeannine Heemstra; his nephew Todd Hilpiper; and his siblings-in-law, Brian McVey and Donna Just.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Just of Belmond, IA. He is also survived by 17 grandkids, 14 great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial tribute service later.
