He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Neel and Leona Neel (Hunt); his wife Sharon; his siblings, Dale Neel, Clyde Neel (Shirley), Kent Neel, Lee Neel, Vida Headley (Ray), Doris Holm (Johnie), Ina Neel and Ruth Coates (Keith); and his sister-in-law Yvonne Neel.
He is survived by: his children, John William (Shelby) of Des Moines, Joni Swedenhjelm (Bill) of Norwalk and Tim Neel (Laurie) of Clinton, MT.; his grandchildren, John Neel (Sami), Jeffrey Neel (Paige), Jenna Heintschel (Marcus), Jack Neel, Andrew Swedenhjelm (Lily), Joseph, Joshua Davis-Smith (Chloe), Emily Rhoda (Brady) and Josh Leahy; his great grandchildren, Elsie, Aniston Neel, James Heintschel, Theo, Isaac Swedenhjelm, Liam Swedenhjelm, Beau and Rylan Rhoda; his siblings, Harvey Neel (Mary Lou), Delmer Neel and Della Swift; and his in-laws, Sheila Neel, Betty Neel, Alice Christensen and Allen Koppernagel (Linda).
