He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard A. Gillitzer and Marcella M. Gillitzer (Jaynes); his son Scott; and his siblings, Pat Prochaska, Norman and Norbert.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Gillitzer (Ann) of Hedgesville, WV, Julie Lerch (Johan) of Bettendorf and Todd Gillitzer (Julie) of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, Hannah, Paige, Morgan, Connor, James, Cameron and Thomas; and his siblings, Michael, Gregory, Neil, Bruce, Gerald, Glen, Cheryl Ryan, Mary Jane Mezera, Beth Mezera, Bernice Swanke and Emily Waller.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1506 Brown St, Bettendorf, IA 52722). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hills & Dales in Dubuque, IA.
