He is survived by: his close friend Larry Van Ert; his children, Kathleen Byrd (Greg), Jim, Drew (Michelle) of Neola, IA and Erin Mueller (Tom); his grandchildren, Tyler Ferguson of Omaha, NE, Dylan Gardiner (Kristian) of Riverside, IA, Kylie Jolas (Kyle) of Houston, TX, Garrett Byrd of Denver, CO, Brant Mueller and Carolyn Byrd; his stepgrandson Kirk Mueller (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Fraya, Piper, Raegan Gardiner, Madison and Liam Mueller; his brothers, Jack (Joanne) and Bill Ferguson (Bet); and his sister-in-law Frani Biggins (Joe).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Jim's honor to the American Heart Association or Catholic Charities.
