As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Jon may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Loyal Gimmy and Maymie Gimmy (Doerr); his wife Roberta Lynn Welch; his sons, Jon Gimmy Jr. (Tammy) of Jacksonville and Robert M. Gimmy of Davenport, Iowa; and his half-brothers, Robert, William and Kris. He was also cherished by three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a circle of dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home (644 River Dr, Bettendorf, IA 52722). A masonic service will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Asbury United Methodist Church (1809 Mississippi Blvd, Bettendorf, IA 52722).
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in his honor.
