He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Edwin Lawson and Freda Belle Lawson (Varner); his wife Alys Jo Nelson (McGowan); his former wife Doris; and his brothers-in-law, Wendell K. Shellabarger and Thomas L McGowan.
He is survived by: his daughters, Vicki Poe (Dave) of Nederland and Sheri Jandik (Jim) of New Virginia, Iowa; his sister-in-law Martha Ridenour (Darrel); his nephews, Nick and Jeff; his sister-in-law Charlene Shellabarger; his nephew David; his niece Diane Futer; and his brother-in-law Burton Shellabarger (Doris).
