She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Earl and Beatrice Jean Covert Smith; her husband Denny Cole; and her stepparents, Dwayne Yates and Leora Smith.
She is survived by: her son Jason Werts (Angie) of Bloomfield; her stepdaughters, Sherry Green (Marty) and Terry Carnahan (Bo); and her siblings, Diana Christian, Tim Davis (Rhonda), Allen Davis, Tim Yates, Jim Smith (Lori) and John Smith (Kris).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
