He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernette Altheide and Elsie Altheide (Blackwell); his wife Mary Lou Altheide; and his siblings, Helen, Lois Fitzgerald, Phyllis Shelton and Richard Altheide.
He is survived by: his former wife Dolores "Dee" Campbell (Mason); his children, Steve Altheide (Sheila) of Bloomfield, Jeff Altheide (JoAnn) of Bloomfield, Ed Altheide of Bloomfield, LuAnn Head (Mark) of Chillicothe and Shelley Mitzelfelt (Randy) of New Virginia, Iowa; his grandchildren, Travis Altheide (Marianne), Shannon Altheide, Tiffany Weir (Shaun), Amber Altheide, Caleb Altheide, Hannah Ridgway (Matt), Luke Altheide, Mason Altheide, Ian Mitzelfelt (Amber), Ethan Mitzelfelt, Eryn Hefner (Noah) and AJ Mitzelfelt (Kortney); his great grandchildren, Dylan, Peyton Altheide, Seamus, Amelia Altheide, Niya Damazo, Jamisyn Murphy, Elena, Barrett, Benjamin Ridgway, River Altheide, Violet Hefner, Harper and Reid Mitzelfelt; and his sister Marlene Cook of Ottumwa, Iowa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wagler Funeral Home (304 W Jefferson St, Bloomfield, IA 52537). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
