He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schmidt and Lillian Schmidt Sr. (Offerman); and his wife Rosalie DeCoster. He is survived by: his children, Robert Schmidt III (Virginia) of Blue Grass, IA, Paul Schmidt (Jennifer) of Bettendorf, IA and Michele Rhoades (Scott) of Durant, IA; his grandchildren, Tristan (Catie), Rob IV (Emma), Thomas, Abbey, Katie, Kaden, Nick, Emmy and Cooper; his great grandchild Luella; and his siblings, Terry Schmidt and Nancy Pelo. He is also survived by sister in laws; and several nieces & nephews.

Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
