It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eugene Mertz of Bode, Iowa, who passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John P. Mertz and Margaret Mertz (Heidersheidt); and his siblings, Irvin Mertz and Emogene Burns. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
