He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Franklin and Ethel Franklin; his wife Lorene Clabaugh; his son-in-law Jim Curell; and his great grandchild Gemma Robinson.
He is survived by: his children, Dorine Bloomberg (Hal) of Ogden, Iowa, Kim Curell (Gary Riordan) of Boone, LuAnn Robinson (Rob) of Boone and Tony Franklin (Mishelle) of Boone; his grandchildren, John Bloomberg (Hally Cohen), Andy Curell (Beth Smith), Jenny Miller (Jason), Ryan Curell (Emily), Justin Robinson (Corina), Jess Gifford (Jerry), Alicia Howell (Aaron), Kelsey Huffman (Derek) and Ryley Franklin; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Brayden, Dillon, Macon, Josie, Knox, Will, Alex, Boden and Brea. He is also survived by several other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home (609 7th St, Boone, IA 50036). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials can be made to the family, which will be used at their discretion.
