He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Cox and Alice Cox (Staley); his son Wade Cox; his brothers, Charles "Chuck" Cox and Larry Cox; and his former wife Joyce Jones Irvine.
He is survived by: his wife Ida Hartling; his children, Chris Cox (Julie) of Boone and Wanda Cox of Boone; his grandchildren, Tony Cox (Kerry), Bri Shafer (Nathan), Joshua Stover (Jordanna) and Spencer Stover (Emily); his great grandchildren, Tate, Paisley, Teague Shafer, Quinn, Cole Cox, Jensen, Georgia Stover, Elsie and Sawyer Stover; and his sisters, Lorraine Madden (Darwin), Linda Jones, Bev Houston (Jeff) and Vickie Treadway (Randy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
