He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Steinick and Jack Jones; his grandfather Frank; and his niece Christine Bruns. He is survived by: his sister Jacque; his brother-in-law Steve; his brothers, Jim (Carol) and Joe (Donna); his daughter Tasha Lanz (Gabe); his siblings' children, Chad Thompson (Kristi Post), Chris "Bones" Jones, Casey, Lynn and Jenna; and his grandchildren, Dane, Mable, Royce and Griffin. He is also survived by other numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel (1006 6th St, Boone, IA 50036). The military honors was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
