She was predeceased by: her brothers, Richard and Ron. She is survived by: her husband Dennis Carter of Boone; her children, Mari Carter (Jason Lowe) of Story City, Rick (Liz) of Indianola and Pam Baumgardner (Mike) of Boone; her sister Marjorie Stoneburner (Joe) of Loveland, CO; and her grandchildren, Carter, Emily Baumgardner and Patrick Carter.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone, or Suncrest Hospice in Ames.
