He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Phipps and Hazel Phipps (Terry); his wife Karen; his son-in-law Todd White; and his brother Doug.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Phipps (Toni) of Monroe, Matt Phipps of Boone, Pam and Don Sturtz of Boone; his brother Ronnie Phipps (Bessie) of Boone; his grandchildren, Ashley Hanson (Matt), Bryan White (Jessica), Emily Phipps, Kevan Phipps and Claire Phipps; and his siblings-in-law, Phyllis (Lindahl) and Howard Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
