He was predeceased by: his mother Edith Vanden Hoek; his brother Julius; his wife Arlene Redenius; his sister Hildred Einfeld; and his grandson Chad Hoekstra.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Hoekstra (Pastor Cliff) and John Vanden Hoek of Spencer; his grandson Keith Hoekstra (Katie) of Sioux Falls; his children, Kayla Stuerman (Scott) of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Derek Vanden Hoek (Emily) of Larchwood, Iowa and Jody Vanden Hoek (Avery Baker) of Sioux Falls; and his sister Elaine Van of Chula Vista, California. He is also survived by nine great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
