Maxine D. Kumsher Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Maxine D. Kumsher of Britt, Iowa. Maxine, born on January 22, 1944, passed away on October 4, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Sobek and Ann Sobek (Havlik); her brothers-in-law, Sam Kendall and Eddie Kumsher; her nephew Eric Ellgen; and her niece Karen Sobek.
She is survived by: her husband Raymond of John's Lutheran Church; her sons, Chris Kumsher (Nancy) of Shakopee, MN, Paul Kumsher (Cindy) of Britt and Ted Kumsher (Avery) of Ames; her grandchildren, Madolyn Kumsher, Isabelle Kumsher Kratzke (Connor), Emma Kumsher and Ana Dee Lathrop (TJ); her great grandchildren, Charlie and Louie; her granddaughter Rachel Hayworth (Jacob); her great grandchildren, Eddie and George; her grandchildren, Maxwell Kumsher (Callie), Eva Kumsher and Ian Kumsher; her siblings, Daniel Sobek (Phyllis) of Mason City and Margie Ellgen of Kansas City, MO; and her siblings-in-law, Bob Kumsher (Patty), Jeanette Whitehurst (Dick), Verna Kendall, Betty Lou Riebsamen (Bill) and Mae Kumsher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cataldo Funeral Home (178 1st Ave SW, Britt, IA 50423). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Britt Evangelical Free Church (810 2nd Ave NW, Britt, IA 50423).
