He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Wilbur Merriam (Virginia Merriam); his wife Colleen Merriam; his children, Angela Parcel of Minnesota, Nicole Merriam of Mason City, James "JT" Merriam (Jaime) of Britt, Katie O'Dell (Ryan) of Oklahoma and Caroline Newby (Paul) of Joice; his siblings, Kathy Eckerman (Bruce) of Cedar Rapids, Kristine Cramer (Rae) of Pennsylvania, Connie Adams (Gary) of Algona, Paulette Barry (Don) of Missouri, Cary Brown (Cathy) of Woden and Rhonda Umthun (Ken) of Eagle Grove; his close friends, Rocket and Rosie; Virginia Merriam and Marlene Merriam. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special doggie.
