It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jean Hand of Burlington, Iowa, born in Lucas, Iowa, who passed away on December 27, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Marvin Drake and Frances Egbert Garman Drake; her husband Edward Forrest Hand; her sons, Edward Hand and Bob Hand; and her siblings, Juanita Hartley, Marvin Lee Drake, Charles William Drake and Michael Colin Drake.

She is survived by : her children, Steve Hand (Virleen) of Depoe Bay, Susan Carper of Burlington, Linda Ells (Dan) of Burlington, Jim Howard of Burlington, Becky Heiniger of Burlington, Sandy Steele (Jack) of Burlington, Sally Miller (Paul) of West Burlington, John Hand (Carmen) of Burlington and Julie Conrad (Steve) of Yarmouth. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
