It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara McSorley-Smith (Burlington, Iowa), born in New London, Iowa, who passed away on February 8, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Violet Laverne (Tripp) and William Arch Brown; her husband Merv Smith; her son David McSorley; and her brothers, Clifford, Ray and Jack Brown.

She is survived by: her son Rick McSorley (Lynn Sures) of Silver Spring, Maryland; her grandson Jesse (McSorley); and her great grandchild Niko Ainsfield of Silver Spring, MD..

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to Community of Christ or to the Southeast.
