He was predeceased by : his parents, Dale Addison and Delpha Kirkpatrick (Blint); and his sister Deborah Newsom. He is survived by : his wife Gail Kirkpatrick; his children, Stacy Reid (Chad) of Burlington, Nichole Peterson (Micah) of Burlington and Spike Kirkpatrick of Burlington; his grandchildren, Jaydon, Emylea, Alannah, Shyann, Kinsley and Macy; his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Charlotte; and his sister Diana Moyle (Walt) of Mt. Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter in Fort Madison.
