With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Francis Cockrell Jr. of Burlington, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 10, 2025 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis "Ted" Cockrell, Sr. and Annabelle B. Cockrell (Thompson); his wife Mary; and his sister Marion Bachtell. He is survived by: his son Sean Cockrell (Lynn) of Southport, NC; his grandsons, Johnathan Cockrell (Carrie) of Ely, IA and Joseph Cockrell of Laguna Beach, CA; his daughters, Kerry Robertson (Mike) of Burlington, IA and Sarah Palmer (Mike) of Middletown, IA.; his grandchildren, Caleb Cockrell, Alicia Cockrell, Mauren Cockrell, Molly Cockrell, Lucy Cockrell, Kylie Palmer, Dillon Palmer, Dawson Palmer, Samantha Robertson, Kaylah Robertson, Donald Robertson, Jemma Robertson Anthony Robertson and Mason Robertson; his great grandchildren, Tyler Cockrell and Damarion Wright; and his sister Teresa Cockrell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lunning Funeral Chapel (2620 Mt Pleasant St, Burlington, IA 52601). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
