He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Meter and Vera Van Meter (Stendeback); his son Jeff Van Meter; and his siblings, Bruce Van Meter and Pam Polite.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Van Meter of Burlington; his son Jon Van Meter (Heather) of Utah; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Van Meter of Indiana; his grandchildren, Trevor, Lexi, Kyra, Vincent and Jasper; and his siblings, Cindi Best (Jim) of Smithville, Steve Van Meter (Carol) of Wood River and Sue Snider (Dave) of Dallas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
