She was predeceased by: her parents, Cloyce Virgil and Sarah Verle McCleary Hyde. She is survived by: her spouse James Price Smith; her daughters, Karla Kellen of Burlington and Karen Cross of West Burlington; and her sister Sandra McGhee of Des Moines. She is also survived by six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
