She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Smith and Sarah Smith (Richards); her husband Robert Henry Gerdner; her brother Harry Smith; her son-in-law Marvin Miller; and her grandson-in-law Robert Reese.

She is survived by: her children, Donald Gerdner (Donna) of Burlington and Marjorie Miller of Bloomington, IL; her grandchildren, Neal Gerdner (Stacey), Ron Gerdner (Tabitha), Christina Reese, Carrie Fisher (Eric) and Michael Miller (Jennie); and her great grandchildren, Austin Gerdner, Landon Gerdner, Katelynn Gerdner, Olivia Gerdner, Skylar Gerdner, Jordan Reese, Tyler Fisher, Zac Fisher, Everett Miller and Eli Miller.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
