He is survived by: his wife Kathy of Burlington; his children, Elizabeth Kopping (Aaron Fisher) of Monmouth, Illinois and Daniel Kopping of Burlington; his grandchildren, Leila White and Fisher Kopping; and his sister Linda Kopping of West Branch. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established for the Wapello VFW.
