He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Born and Dorothy Born (Carhoff); and his siblings, Jim Babcock (Chris), Donald Born (Susan), Judi Rheinholt (Roger) and Debbie Goble (Butch).
He is survived by: his children, David Barnes of Hamilton, Michelle Hill (Adam) of Waukee and Cathy Kuhl (Jeff) of Bennington; the mother of his children Glenda Knoot (Rouse); and his grandchildren, Jacob, Mason, Allison Kuhl, Marley, Donovan Hill, Isaac Murphy, Carter and Maddy Barnes. He is also survived by extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lunning Funeral Chapel (2620 Mt Pleasant St, Burlington, IA 52601). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
