He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Deal and Alice Deal (Glover); and his siblings, Mary Jean Carstons, Warren Johnston and Robert Johnston.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Deal of Burlington; his daughters, Diane Casady (Scott) of Waukee, Julie Deal of Portland and Andrea Lallis (Tony) of Troy, Missouri; his grandchildren, Ainsley Drinkall, Finley Casady, Zoey Lallis, Jamison Lallis and Bailey Lallis; his brother John Deal (Sharon); and his sisters-in-law, Wilna Johnston, Jeanette Werner and Sylvia Baxter (Ralph). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial has been established for Zion United Church of Christ.
