Mary Jo Snowden Obituary

We announce the death of Mary Jo Snowden of Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on June 12, 2026, at the age of 92. Mary will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold F Brenneke and Nora Belle Jenkins; her stepfather David Jenkins; her former husband Harry F. Thompson; her husband Robert L. Snowden; her close friends, Norbert Dunn and Lester Schofield; her son-in-law Michael Moore; her stepchildren, Steven Snowden and Deborah Ayers; her son-in-law Vernon Ayers; her brothers, Roger Brenneke and David Brenneke (Joyce); her sister-in-law Patty Thompson; and her niece Pamela Moore.

She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey Thompson (Deanna) and Rebecca Thompson; her daughter-in-law Linda Snowden; her stepbrother Terry Jenkins (Dee); her grandchildren, Sarah Schultz (Justin), Joshua Moore (Jeni), Derek Thompson, Tim Thompson, Sam Thompson (Luke), Justin Snowden (Laura), Jessica Snowden, Jennie Rickels (Kyle), Julie Studeny (Bobby), Cyrus Ayers, Dora Rose Ayers, Ahban Ayers (Ausha) and Iris Ayers; her friends, Pauline Lowther and Jacque Plath; her extended family, Gregg Dunn (Michelle), Terry Diaz, Jeff and Marna Parker; and her sisters-in-law, Debbie Snowden, Mary Snowden, Janice Snowden and Gloria Ruschmeyer. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established for the Burlington Public Library and the Iowa PBS.
